Pearl Thiraviaratnam Selvarajah Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pearl Selvarajah, who left us peacefully on the evening of March 7, 2025, at the age of 87. She was surrounded by her family at Brampton Civic Hospital in her final moments. Pearl spent her years residing in Brampton with her eldest son, Rohan, daughter in law, Ratha and their sons, where she was deeply cherished and cared for.

Pearl’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering faith. As a young widow, she made the courageous decision to immigrate to Canada, where she single-handedly raised her three children. Though life placed many obstacles in her path, her faith in Christ never wavered. She embodied kindness, compassion, and strength, passing these values on to those around her.

She was not only a devoted mother, grandmother and sister but also someone who formed deep and meaningful bonds with those in her life. She never took a moment for granted and continuously chose to live life to the fullest.

Her daughter-in-law, Ratha, cared for her as if she were her own mother, ensuring Pearl was surrounded by love, comfort and care. Ananthi, the wife of her youngest son Pastor Sam, shared a unique bond with Pearl, one where they could confide in each other about anything. Shanthakumar her son-in-law and Aneeta her daughter, had never ending love for their mother Pearl. Aneeta would drop anything and everything for her, always putting Pearl's needs above her own. Their love and care were a testament to the family’s deep connections and support for one another.

Pearl is preceded in death by her beloved children, Rohan, Pastor Sam, and Aneeta. She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren: Adrian Joseph, Bryan Joseph, Shawn Rohan, Aaron Rohan, Jennifer Joseph, Nimroth Rohan, Jonathan Ranjit, Noelyn Joseph, and Shobana Ranjit.

Pearl had a deep appreciation to learn as much as she could. She was always eager to develop new skills and expand her knowledge. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures like cooking, baking, traveling, dancing, singing, playing the piano, sewing, and spending time with her faithful companion, Sky. Her warm presence touched everyone she met, leaving behind beautiful memories filled with love, light and laughter.

If there’s one verse Pearl lived by, it is Psalm 23:

"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul."

This verse brought Pearl peace and comfort throughout her days, and it is that same peace that now surrounds her as she rests in eternal care. Pearl’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the opportunity to get to know such a beautiful soul. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is  reunited with her husband in eternal peace.
