


Obituary of Phulmatie Persaud
Phulmatie (Rajo) Persaud was born on February 15, 1941 in the town of Port Mourant Berbice, Guyana. Aunty Rajo passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025 in the city of Toronto. Aunty Rajo was a beloved mother to her sons Andrew, Danny, Samuel (deceased), and a cherished grandmother to Neal and Priya.
Aunty Rajo was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Aunty Rajo’s journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.
Her determination, perseverance, and dedication to helping others has touched the lives of many all over the world stemming from Canada to United States, Guyana, India, England, and Sri Lanka.
Aunty Rajo faced all obstacles head on and never complained. She loved her family fiercely and was always a pillar of strength and support. Aunty Rajo raised a close knitted family; Andrew (Es), Danny (Juliet), and Samuel. The family then grew to include grandchildren; Donovan, Priya (Adam), and Neal (Linda). Family was an important aspect to her and she would always welcome more. Friends became family and Aunty Rajo shared her love to everyone who crossed her path. Aunty Rajo furthered her love of family to Chrissy and her Pundit, Guruji.
Aunty Rajo embarked on a mission to spread the message of love and hope. For more than 40 years, Aunty Rajo has dedicated her time to sending charity donations to various organizations around the world. Aunty Rajo furthered her passion to helping others with her religious ceremonies of Pujas. Her dedication to her faith and her desire to bring light to those in need epitomized her joyful and generous nature. Aunty Rajo found joy and fulfilment in her religious faith of Hinduism. She was proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world tolerance and universal acceptance.
Aunty Rajo will forever be remembered with her infectious smile, positive outlook for life, and her deep-rooted faith in Hinduism. Aunty Rajo had an unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered. She had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
The family of Aunty Rajo would like to thank all of her family and friends for their continually love, support, and guidance. The blessings and compassion has shown great care and encouragement.
Although Aunty Rajo’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire, motivate, and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing, and may we honour her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. As you continue to worship Lord Shiva, your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
