In Loving Memory of Kamla Mohansingh

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Kamla Mohansingh, who departed this world peacefully on May 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 78 years old.

Born in Trinidad on April 16, 1947, Kamla was the cherished daughter of Sanmattee Mohan Singh and Mohan Backat Singh. Her journey took her from Trinidad to Washington DC, and ultimately to Toronto, where she spent most of her life surrounded by family, friends, and a vibrant community.

Kamla was a beloved sister to Roopnarine Mohansingh, Hitram Singh, Manmohan Singh, Samdeo Mohansingh, and Sookdevi Mahabir, and she held in loving memory her late siblings Deonarine Mohansingh, Bhagwandai Seenathsingh, Rookmin Maharaj, Boya Mohansingh, Indrawattie Silochan, and Bhim Mohansingh. She also shared meaningful relationships with her many in-laws—both living and departed—whom she regarded as family.

She was a proud aunt and grandaunt to an extraordinary 79 nieces, nephews, and their spouses, playing a guiding and nurturing role in the lives of so many.

Kamla was known for her strength, independence, and deep sense of compassion. She forged powerful bonds with those around her—always checking in, offering advice, and sharing her time generously. Her devotion to family was matched by her commitment to her community. Kamla was an active member of the Rameshwar Temple for many years and played a vital role in her senior community.

She found joy in simple pleasures—especially her daily walks and staying connected with loved ones. Kamla had a special love for the color white, reflecting her gentle spirit and pure heart. She worked hard throughout her life and was deeply appreciated by her manager and colleagues for her dedication and character.

Her memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew her.
