Please share a memory of Neermattee to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Playful. Assertive. Spirited.
Whether starting the party on the dancefloor, sipping a cocktail on the beach, or whipping up a batch of
coconut buns in record speed, Dolly Singh brought care, presence, and thoughtfulness to everything she
did in life.
Dolly was born in 48 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, Guyana, to John and Susan Tulshi. She grew up with
her nine siblings: Lucille, Nalin, Joan, Buddy, twin sister Baby, Shanta, Dato, Babo, and Perly. Her early days
were spent on her father’s rice plantation and farm, enjoying guinep from the neighbour’s tree, visiting the
cinema for the latest Bollywood film, and developing her inner fashionista.
At age 15, she set her eyes on a boy named Ranjit and knew he was the one. Theirs was a love story for
the ages. Ranjit soon moved to London to study, after which time they wrote letters to each other for over
four years. When her father found out she had met the man of her dreams, she was flown to London that
same week and they married soon after. Dolly and Ranjit spent 54 years together.
Dolly had a long and successful career as a travel consultant. She worked tirelessly to help friends,
family, and clients make meaningful memories through travel. Visiting over 20 countries during her
lifetime, exploring new destinations and resorts brought Dolly great joy. Travel to the Caribbean had a
special place in her heart — she visited the Dominican Republic nearly 10 times with her family and
friends.
Dolly had three children, Dhanesh, Anil, and Davena. She taught them the joy of nonsense, discipline and
responsibility, how to speak your mind, and to bring thoughtfulness and intentionality to everything they
do. Dolly saw each of her children successfully graduate from university, start a home, find love, and
marry. Her family grew with the addition of her two daughter-in-laws, Sherene and Sireesha, and her son-
in-law, Victor. Dolly lives on through her children and her three grandchildren: Malia, Trevor, and Afton. All
three embody her playful spirit, fiery temper, and love for laughter.
Dolly enjoyed her life to the fullest by being no one else but herself. Family, food, fashion, and travel were
her passions. She enjoyed nourishing her mind, body, and spirit through embracing health, rigorous self-
care, and being present in the company of family and friends. Dolly leaves behind a legacy
of gentle kindness, authenticity and fierce love.
