Obituary of Prakash Kusum Gupta

Prakash Kusum Gupta was born on December 3, 1949, in Moradabad, India, the third of four children, with two loving sisters and a brother. Bright and ambitious, she earned her Master’s degree in Economics before marrying Dr. Lok Pal Gupta on February 19, 1973. 

Fearless and adventurous by nature, in 1974 she and her husband embarked on their first great journey together — moving halfway across the world to Georgetown, Guyana in South America. There, they welcomed their beloved son, Anurag Gupta, and began building a life filled with curiosity and exploration.

Still eager for new horizons, the family relocated to Paramaribo, Suriname, where Prakash embraced the community and culture for the next 18 years. Her adventurous spirit led to yet another chapter — a two-year stay in Miami, Florida, with her son, ensuring he completed his high school education. After returning briefly to Suriname, she made Canada her final home in 1997, carrying with her the love, memories, and experiences of a life lived across continents.

Prakash was more than a loving wife and devoted mother — she was the steady heartbeat of her family. Her life was a tapestry woven with resilience, grace, and warmth. She faced challenges with an unwavering smile and a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her. Known for her gentle nature, listening ear, and genuine kindness, she formed lasting friendships in every corner of the globe she called home.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Lok Pal Gupta, and cherished son, Anurag Gupta, carrying with them the love, lessons, and memories of a remarkable woman who made every place she lived feel like home.
