Obituary of Amritlal Nagewadia

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved
father, Amritlal Nagewadia, on September 18th, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born in 1933 in Kalavad, Gujarat, India, to Odhavjibhai and Diwaliben
Nagewadia, Amritlal embarked on a remarkable journey early in life. At just 12
years old, he moved to Uganda, where he discovered his lifelong passion for
automotive mechanics. His dedication and skill became the foundation of a
fulfilling career.

At the age of 20, he married the love of his life, Manjula, beginning a beautiful
partnership that spanned 69 joyful years. Together, they raised three children
nurturing a family rooted in love, resilience, and warmth.

In 1972, Amritlal and his family relocated to St. Albans, Hertfordshire, United
Kingdom, and two years later, made their home in Toronto, Canada. He
continued his work as a mechanic with VIA Rail, where he remained until his
retirement, always known for his dedication, humility, and craftsmanship.
He leaves behind his 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Amritlal’s life was a testament to perseverance, love, and quiet strength. He will
be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of
knowing him.
