Please share a memory of Can to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Can Thai, on January 9, 2026.
Can Thai was born in Tay Ninh, Vietnam in 1930 to parents Kim Thai and Ha Tran. He immigrated to Cornwall, Ontario in 1989 to reunite with his children. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Me Thi Nguyen, in 2018. He leaves behind his 5 loving children: Hanh (spouse Thanh), Ve (spouse Hoa), Kien (spouse Thong), Mai (spouse Peter) and Huong (spouse Son), 11 grandchildren: Henry, Tracy, Diem (spouse Brian), Steven, Phuong, Thu, Vu (spouse H. Anh), Tiffany (spouse Yuchen), Jessica, Sandra and Carolyn, and 4 great-grandchildren: Roselynn, Jayden, Liam and P. Anh.
Can Thai was a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His kindness, humour and enthusiasm in all that he did, had left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be forever loved and missed.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to the nurses and doctors of Mackenzie Health and Markham Stouffville hospitals, and to the staff of Hilltop Place Retirement Community and Mon Sheong Dr. Paul Woo LTC centre for their care.
A memorial service will be held at Lotus Funeral and Cremation Centre, 121 City View Drive, Toronto on Saturday, January 17th, with praying service (in Vietnamese) starting at 2:00 PM, followed by visitation at 4:00 PM, and cremation at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Can Thai can be made to the Mackenzie Health Foundation or Mon Sheong Foundation.
