Gangia Ballieram, known as Phulwa, was born in Best Village on July 2, 1942 to the late Soobagie and the late Sarju known as Tata. She died on September 6, 2020. Her husband, Ramdayal Ballieram, known as Cyril, and her children, Shanti, Sandra, Suresh, Ramesh and Radash will always remember her. She was well known and well liked by everyone.
She was a staunch Hindu whose opinion was valued. She believed in prayers. She ensured that every Pooja she can influence was done correctly according to Hindu practices.
She often said, given the opportunity, she would have been a Doctor, Lawyer or any professional she wanted to be. She believed in education. She encouraged us to become the best we can be.
If a family member needed help, she will find the means. Several members of the family knew her residence as their first home. When someone had a Pooja, they made sure she was available. She was expected to ensure all the Pooja items were bought. She was the chief cook and responsible for preparing the prayer site for Pandit. She found the energy to ensure the Pooja ceremony was perfect, everyone had enough to eat and the home was cleaned after everyone left.
She exemplified generosity and will be forever remembered.
