Dearest SAVITRI AUNTY, VIJAY&FAMILY & TO ALL MY UNCLES AND AUNTIES AND RESPECTIVELY THEIR FAMILIES,
Munna uncle was the best uncle ever!!!! He was the kindest most decent person I knew. He always loved us unconditionally and we felt as if no harm could ever come our way. He was one of our favorite people. I know I didn’t get to talk to uncle as often as I would like to have but when we did, he always had words of comfort. He always was like a ray of light and just a joy to know him.
Anju Vijay and I will never forget the summer we spent with you, aunty , uncle and Vijay back in 1980’s. Those were some of my beautiful childhood memories and it will live with me forever.
I know uncle isn’t here with us physically but I truly believe he will always be in our hearts. I know that wherever he may be, he is resting in peace.
To all of our beautiful family in Toronto, know that our deepest condolences are sent your way and our thoughts and prayers are with you today and always. Love to all

On January 1, 2021, we said goodbye to my dearest uncle, Krishna Gounder (aka. Munna Mama); a fun loving, good spirited and pure hearted individual. He fought to the end, and made the most of every waking moment. Alas, it came time for him to rest and find his peace and we laid him to rest on his birthday, January 4, 2021.

This image is of him embracing me during the first year of my life back in 1985. I didn’t know what was ahead of me then, but seeing this picture of us during such a precious time gives me courage, happiness and peace today as I inch toward my birthday at the end of the month. It’s almost as if my uncle’s spirit is helping me come full circle, helping me rebirth myself through the power of his love, zest for life and wisdom.⠀

Losing a dear cousin and uncle just two months apart is devasting, but its also a reminder that life is to be cherished and celebrated – every second, of every day. A perfect example of how death is a lesson on how to live life to the fullest.⠀

I learned a lot in 2020, but 2021 is the year I truly give it all to the universe so I can just LIVE.⠀

My uncle has taught me this through his own grace, love and compassion.

I lost my dear older brother Krishna Gounder. We called him 'Munna' out of love. I am deeply saddened by this loss and I share this sorrow with his wife, son, daughter in law, granddaughter, all my brothers and sisters and the rest of our big beautiful family today. May his soul rest in peace.

My Dearest brother and our Dearest Muna Mama,
Our hearts are shattered over losing you. Yet, we are eternally grateful for your love, generosity, humour and gentleness. You led by example as a brother, an uncle, and an all-around gracious gentleman. You wore many hats in our family. You were a great brother-in law, a fantastic boss from the Wagner Co. days, a talented cook and an inspiration for how a man honours their family.
Muna, family was of greatest importance to you. You held all your siblings close to your heart and always advocated for us to be loving and forever supportive of each other. I am already missing your calls and will miss not hearing your voice. You were so considerate of Babu and you two shared a special, loving relationship that encompassed engaging conversations around Fiji, sports and the joys of generations being added on to our families.
My loving Uncle, you were the original Brampton settler in our family. I have such fond memories of the numerous family house parties that you held when I was growing up. I will miss seeing you in your Kangol hat that you wore with style and grace. You always reminded me of Nana. You and Nana were the only ones that wore the old school, charming, OG Kangol hat. You always made me laugh with your warm spirit and made me feel at peace even in times of uncertainty. You will continue to be a blessing to our family. I will miss our talks and I will forever cherish the lessons you taught me both by your example and your wisdom.
We will continue to pray for your eternal soul as you guide us from above.

We miss you. You were always fair, kind and oh so funny. Growing up, you taught me how to tie my laces and you always spoiled us by making your delicious Pilau and awesome breakfasts. I learned through you how a husband should treat their wife, as you always treated our Aunty as a queen. I recall the summer you visited us, and taught Buddy how to make your famous Pilau on the barbecue.
