Dearest Divakar,
I have no words to express your loss. You were the best. I always loved listening to your advice. You were a loving, kind hearted, understanding and affectionate person. You were always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. I will never forget your kind heart and good deeds. I will always cherish the memories I shared with you and your loving family.
May you rest in eternal peace my friend.

Dearest Susan, Kaitlyn and Ethan,
Words cannot express how sorry we are for the loss of Divakar. Your family is not only our neighbor, but our dear friends and he will be greatly missed. Divakar was always ready with a joke or a magic trick for the kids and always had a kind word for everyone he knew. He was so devoted to his family and so proud of all your accomplishments. May you find comfort in knowing that he will always live in your hearts and that he will walk beside you and guide you along the way. May he rest in peace ...

My deepest sympathies. I was so saddened to hear about your loss and my heart and thoughts are with you during this difficult time. It is devastating to lose a life partner, and more so when the loss is at such a young age. I hope you are able to find comfort with your family and friends and, one day, find peace in the memories you have.

While my memory has faded over the years, I remember Vana Vani and I was so glad to reconnect with a bunch of classmates after almost 3 decades. Divakar and I have had some interesting conversations over the last few years and I was amazed with Divakar’s creativity and dedication. Although I have not had the pleasure of meeting Susan and the kids, I feel like I know them. We had made plans to meet up once COVID was out of the picture and i am sad that I won’t get to see him again. I would still like to make that trip and meet his family and I look forward to keeping this connection alive and cherish the many wonderful memories he has left them with. Love Tara

Divakar, did not follow tradition or rules. To his innumerable friends he was fun, entertaining, helpful, hospitable, dependable and affectionate.. I have known him for over 40 years and his simplicity, humility and openness has not changed even as he made a mark for himself in his chosen career where he went over and above to show his creativity and care to make people happy.
A good honest human, extremely talented, self made man with protective devotion for his dear wife, kids, siblings, colleagues, neigbors and communities that he care for. He has helped many from competent classmates, casual strangers, family members and friends. He also made time to care for and mentor juveniles in need of direction.
There are so many who would miss him and none more than his dear wife Susan and wonderful kids Kaitlyn and Ethan.
May his soul Rest In Peace, his memories remain to guide and cherish while God Bless his family.

I can not express in words how shocking and devastating this loss is. He was such a bright light, such an energy, so magically wise and always full of great stories. He loved life - he truly lived each day to the fullest and the one thing that I definitely know is that he ADORED his family. I have heard a 100 stories about Susan, his incredible wife, about Kaitlyn, who was growing up to be a truly incredible young woman and Ethan, who was charming, brilliant and always full of life.
All of us who have had a chance to know him and be changed by him are blessed. Thank you Divakar for always being an inspiration and the kind of mentor I truly needed.

Remember you from school as a shy and reticent person. Many years after school just a few years back we reconnected through FB and our school group. Was amazed at the person you had become,, a stalwart in your profession, a mentor to so many in your profession and somebody who was ready to help anybody in need. We ( all your friends) were so proud of you. Through your hard work and dedication you attained success which many of us can only dream of!
The last few weeks whatever happened, happened too fast. We are unable to come to terms that you have left us. Can’t imagine the pain and trauma Susan and your two kids must be going through. Praying to God to give them the strength to face these rough times.

That smiling photo truly embodies what Divakar was all about. We met years ago in the Taj Connemara in Chennai and lucky to meet again in Dubai.
My greatest debt to him was that he used his afternoon breaks to teach my recently married wife how to cook.
Of course this created the opportunity for us to meet each others wives and start a great relationship.
Himself still not yet a Dad, he got practice being the fun uncle for my year old son. Ultimately he started his journey to Canada and we were fortunate to have Susan stay us till she could join him.
After that we did have many opportunities to meet and have the families connect as we would meet whenever he came to Bangalore.
Too nice a guy to be taken away so soon. Still can't wrap my head around the fact that you are gone.
Rest in peace my friend. I'm sure when I see you next you will be incharge of the wonderful display in the banquet in Heaven.

dear Divakar,
The entire VanaVani class grieves with your family.. Cannot fathom this loss. Our friendship spanned 4 decades, included years of hilarious high school escapades, athletics, sports and then a rich connection as adults. I cannot count the number of hours we spent last year in long conversation on a variety of topics where the day was always brighter after talking with you. Your care and concern for others, will always remain an inspiration for everyone who engaged with you. Your artistic skills amazed us. Even as you battled this cruel virus, you warned me to take care of myself for you knew I was not as strong or fit, your concern always extending beyond yourself to the very end. May we live up to your example.

Divakar would randomly text me at all hours of the night when there was a Raptors game on TV. He would ask if I was watching the game or if I saw "that shot" or he'd comment generally on how a player was doing or how the team was doing. I'm going to miss those random texts and his colourful play-by-play. Divakar was a mentor to me, a fellow chef, and my other boss, but above all else he was my friend. He was a kind soul, a devoted husband and father, and a very proud chef who enjoyed his craft more than most. He will be dearly missed.

Divakar always had a great story to tell, a joke to crack and a meal ready to share. He never failed to let us know how much he loved his family; his kids were his pride and joy. My heartfelt condolences to the family.

Divakar was like a second father to me. He always looked out for me and made sure I was doing the right thing. He had so much wisdom and he will be truly missed as a husband, father and friend. Many of my childhood memories included me, Ethan and Divakar. He leaves a legacy of care, wisdom and kindness. He will watch down on everyone from heaven.

I will miss Divakar’s bubbly energy, ever smiling face, fun loving bindaas nature, pulling your legs if you ever let your guard down even for a few seconds, always armed with a slick sense of humour and narrative abilities! Will reminisce the barbecues at his home with the choicest of marinades, veggies, pineapple, meats and prawns followed by creative desserts! Vividly recall the picnics in summer to the beach in Pickering with his signature Chilli-chicken dish! We used to reminisce our similarities, upbringing and similar backgrounds as Divakar, Shaila and me spent our childhood days in Orissa! Vividly recall your magical coin disappearing tricks with Sanah and just your sheer energy, simplicity and connection with children! Will recall and cherish all the good times we had with you Divakar! Our thoughts and prayers for Susan, Kaitlin and Ethan to get through these difficult times.
