Obituary of Jan Burgess

Peacefully at Credit Valley Hospital, in her 65th year, Janet (Jan) Louise Burgess (née Morris) passed away on Thursday, May 5th, 2022. Much-loved wife of David, mother of James and Kathleen, sister of John (Cathy) and Susan (Kirby), aunt of Andrew (Michelle) and Taryn, and family to more in Washington state, Ontario, Alberta, and Illinois that all greatly miss her. Jan was a proud University of Guelph alumnus, and worked in the financial and investment sector from graduation until retirement. She was a very active member of the Kingsview Free Methodist Church community, helping to coordinate events and work towards getting a family fleeing religious persecution into Canada: she will be here in spirit to greet them once they arrive. She was also a very active member of the Royal Canadian Legion’s Branch 233 in Orangeville, working alongside her husband as the branch's Public Relations Officers. Some of her favourite activities included snuggling up with the family dogs (Hanna or Rumble) on the couch, and crocheting for loved ones and people in need. Her favourite days were ones spent at the family cottage, and ones of get-togethers with close friends. We are all blessed to have had her in our lives. In lieu of flowers, donations to Kingsview Free Methodist Church or Wounded Warriors Canada would be greatly appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at Kingsview Free Methodist Church, 15 Kingsview Boulevard, Etobicoke, Ontario on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 from 1 PM to 3:30 PM: there will be a Facebook Live stream for anyone prefering to attend remotely. A second Celebration of Life will be held at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 233, 7 John Street, Orangeville, Ontario on Sunday, June 26th, 2022 from 1 PM to 3:30 PM.
