Obituary of Manoranjitham Kandiah
Please share a memory of Manoranjitham to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Manoranjitham (Mano) Kandiah of Atchuvely, Sri Lanka passed away on August 7, 2022 at the Kensington House Hospice at the age of 91. Beloved sister to her six brothers and two sisters, who pre-deceased her, and cherished aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
In Sri Lanka, she attended the Vembadi Girls’ High School and later taught at the Stafford Ladies College in Colombo. After her mother had a stroke in 1972, she gave up her job without hesitation to take care of her for seven bed ridden years with great care and love.
In 1982, she immigrated to Canada and the US (Minnesota) where she was a Montessori School Teacher for over twenty years. She loved teaching and often spoke of her students with great affection. Her last fourteen years were spent with her widowed youngest sister in Toronto. The two sisters had a wonderful relationship and travelled the world together, until her sister fell victim to Alzheimer’s and Mano again helped to take care of her.
Mano loved reading, traveling, and meditation. She was a kind, gentle, selfless soul who devoted her life to caring for others. She will be forever missed.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Lotus Funeral Home, 121 City View Drive, Etobicoke, (647) 547-8188, from 2-3pm on Sunday August 14, 2022, followed by a Hindu funeral service at 3pm.
