Bachia “Doris” Ramnauth Obituary

Bachia “Doris” Ramnauth passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on August 28, 2022 at age 90. 

Doris was the third of eight children born to Etwaria Sookram and Sookram Gocoul on January 20, 1932 in Albion, Corentyne, Guyana. She married Subnath “David” Ramnauth in 1949 and together they raised six wonderful children in No. 65 Village. Doris’ love for her family saw her bravely follow her children to Canada and the U.S., settling in Toronto in 1981.

Our beloved Mother, Mai, Nanny, Grandma, Great-Nanny, Great-Grandma and ‘Old Lady,’ was her family’s guiding light. She worked tirelessly to ensure her loved ones were taken care of. We will forever cherish her and fondly remember her as a strong, caring woman.

Doris is predeceased by her three sisters, Mabel, Casturi and Galo, and her brother, Daniel. She is survived by her husband David and:

- three brothers: Arnold, Munilall, and Anand,

- six children: Cher, Besh (Haem), Mohan (Ann), Tina (Jagat), Bab (Subhas) and Boyo (Sunita),

- 14 grandchildren: Deion (Ann), Indra (Anil), Ron (Laura), Anita (Andrew), Evita (Chris), Kevin (Allishaw), Christina (Kevin), Gary, Ryan (Sherifa), Sarah (Dennis), Melissa (Ryan), Ena, Damian and Milena,

- and eight great-grandchildren: Alexis, Amaya, Akira, Kiaan, Audrey, Andrew Jr., Jaylen and Alexander.
