Obituary of Mohinderjit Singh Ahluwalia

Please share a memory of Mohinderjit to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mohinderjit Singh Ahluwalia, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and respected physician passed peacefully on September 17th.

Born in Uganda, as one of twelve siblings, Mohinder excelled in school and earned a scholarship that allowed him to follow his calling and study medicine in Scotland. His journey next took him to England and Holland to practise medicine and then ultimately Canada in the 1970s; a place that he chose to make his home. But it was in India where he met and married the love of his life, Usha Ahluwalia (nee Chawla). Their family grew to include his loving children Gurjeet and Gurdeep, daughter-in-law Dana, and devoted grandsons Ashoka, Julian and Naveen.

Mohinder's passion for travel and his work in the community (through his clinic, charities, clubs and work in hospitals) brought many more friends into his life. Those who knew Mohinder speak fondly of his intelligence, humility, sense of humour, patience, positive outlook on life and ability to be completely at ease and content in any situation. Mohinder left us all with countless memorable moments, laughs and words of wisdom; we encourage all who miss him to remember him fondly by re-telling and cherishing those memories.
