Obituary of Shanta Manny

Muneshwari ‘Shanta’ Manny
7 September 1953 – 26 September 2022
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our wife, mother, and grandmother,
Shanta Manny (nee Kistamma). Left to honour the life of Shanta is her husband Permanand
‘Anand’ Manny, sons Devanand Michael Manny (Meaghan), Vejai Ramayah ‘Bobby’ Manny
(Saeeda), and daughter Sharda Natasha Chlykov (Max), and three beautiful grandchildren Nikita,
Tamara, and Alex, as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Shanta
was predeceased by her mother Sanchari Ramayah and father Gummadi Ramayah.
Born in Berbice, Nigg Settlement, Guyana, Shanta immigrated to Canada in 1972 where she
married her husband, and settled in Toronto ON. Together, Shanta and Anand raised their three
children and welcomed their three grandchildren. While the children were young, she enjoyed
singing, cooking for family, extended family and neighbours, as well as crafting and flower
arranging. A devoted mother, during her younger years, Shanta ran a home daycare where she
helped care for numerous children and was able to be at home to support her children. In later
years, Shanta was a proud grandmother and would spend many hours telling stories and talking
about her three grandchildren and the lives of her children.
A visitation will be held on Friday 30 September 2022 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Lotus
Funeral & Cremation Centre, 121 Cityview Drive Toronto, ON, with a funeral on Saturday 1
October 2022 from 11:00am to 1:00pm, followed by a small reception. A private cremation will
occur following the conclusion of the funeral service.
