Shri was Sensei, my close friend and my training partner for many years. Although we drifted away, renewing our contact once or twice a year, he was a very special person who impacted the lives of many both within the karate world and outside of it. I will remember his smile and laugh, he was always quick to do both.

Sensei Shri was an amazing example of what karate is meant to teach. His skill, strength and speed demonstrated a lifetime of training. More important and impressive was that over 15 years, every time I trained with him he had a smile on his face and was interested to learn something new from anyone he was talking to. There will always be a little sorrow that he is no longer with us, but I’ll also be joyful remembering what he gave of himself to everyone he knew.

Q: What will you miss most about Shri Keth?
A: My family and I will always miss your smile and spirit. We met you through a sign we saw promoting the new location of your karate class. We had been looking for a new place to continue our children's karate teachings.
From the moment we met you, we knew we were at the right place. Your care, consideration and gentle spirit drew us in. You brought Isaiah out of his shell and encouraged Jada to to believe in her full potential. Shri, thank you for the laughter, light and love you brought to all of us. Your words of wisdom, teachings and practice will stay with us always.

He was an admirable mentor who was one of a kind.

Shri was a Light and Guide for all who knew him and Learned with him. Our family met Shri in 2008 and he changed our lives. As a family we took karate together, as friends we shared teachings and meditated together, as parents we exchanged stories and supported each other. I am so terribly sorry for your loss.
I met Sensei Shri at NKS. He would come to the Midtown dojo occasionally to either take a class or teach, and it was always wonderful to see him. What a fantastic martial artist! He had the most beautiful stances. I will never forget watching him perform Ufugusuku. Lightening fast and perfect. Simply awesome.
And, beyond his martial skill, Sensei Shri was simply a lovely man.

When I first met Shri, I was a 5-year-old who just wanted to learn how to kick and punch. But over the years, Shri taught me that it wasn't about getting a black belt - it was about the journey. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn both karate and how to be the best person I can be. Whenever I face a challenge, I am reminded of Shri's wise words: "practice makes progress".

You were one of a kind! Taking Justin on as a student at 3 and mentoring him on and of the dojo, teaching him perseverance, dedication, patience, concentration, responsibility, consistency, and focus, all skills which have guided him through getting his black belt, school, sports, being a camp counselor and now getting into University. Your patience and guidance left an undeniable mark on Justin, and was always appreciated by Shane and myself. You were also a cheerleader for Erin throughout her dance journey. Your compassion, humility, and love of life was infectious. Thank you for being my friend, co-worker, and a ray of light always! You always had great advice, wisdom, and always knew how to put life in perspective and focus on the positive! You taught us all so much about being mindful everyday.
