Jasmat grew up on her family estate Wellington park. She married Budhram Jawallie and initially lived with him and his family in Fyrish village, before settling back to Wellington park, where all of their 10 children were born. She found herself left to raise her children following the death of her husband at age 45 yrs. She was sponsored to Canada, and became a Canadin citizen in 2003. She was always very proud and grateful to Canada for providing her a comfortable and happy life, however deep down her Guyanese values and beliefs remained at heart. Jasmat was truly blessed to have lived a long and active life, maintaining her physical and mental capabilities to the end. She was a member of the Stratford Senior center for 30 yrs. Everyone was amazed by her physical ability and youthful appearance, a question she frequently gets asked " what is your secret", to which she would reply consistently" hard work".
Jasmat will be deeply missed by her family and friends. We would like to thank the staff of Cedarcroft retirement home and Dr Rheaume. The Home and community care support team, the palliative team, and the Stratford Rotary hospice for their compassionate.
