Obituary of Bishun Dial

Bishun Dial, 89, passed away peacefully at the Humber River Hospital in Toronto on Monday the 26th of November 2018 at 3:00 pm. Bishun Dial was born on the 1st of March 1929 to parents Rajwantie and Somwaru, and grew up in Canal No2 Polder on the West Bank of the Demerara river. He was the elder of two sons, Bishun and Ramdayal. Bishun was educated in Georgetown Guyana where he passed his British Senior Cambridge, went on to become a Sworn Land Surveyor, and rose to the level of Head of Surveys in the Guyana government. Bishun was married to his wife Pharboutie Ramcharan from Rumzeigt on the 18th of November 1952. Bishun and Pharboutie had six children in Canal Polder - Joyce, Jean, George, Elaine, Edwin, and Patsy. In 1965, the Bishun family eventually moved to 106 New Road Vreed-en- Hoop, West Coast Demerara where the children grew up. Starting in the late 70's, Bishun and his family moved from Guyana to the province of Alberta in Canada. While there, Bishun was hired by the ministry of transportation as a surveyor and was instrumental in building the highway (40N) between Grand Cash and Grand Prairie. During his time in Alberta, Bishun lived in the cities of Calgary, Edmonton, Edson, Entwistle and Grand Cashe. In the late 80's Bishun then moved to San Romano Way in Toronto. While there he worked for the city of Toronto as a land surveyor until his retirement in 1995. Upon retirement Bishun and Pharboutie went back to Guyana. While back in Guyana, Bishun lectured surveying at the Guyana Technical Institute (GTI) in Georgetown and the University of Guyana. He was also an expert witness at the high courts in Guyana where he made numerous decisions on major land disputes. Bishun and Pharboutie continued to be in Guyana from 1995 until 2010. Since, 2010 they have lived in San Romano Way Toronto (Jane & Finsh Area). Bishun is survived by his wife, six children , fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
