Obituary of Poorandeo (Sydney) Doc Samlall
Sydney Poorandeo Samlall passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at St Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Guyana in 1934 to Basmattie aka Rosa and Samlall. He worked as a dispenser/ medic until retirement in 1998.
Sydney’s passion was helping people as was evident in the career he chose. He worked countless hours overtime treating patients from all three counties in Guyana. In 1957, Sydney met Shirley...the love of his life…they were married in 1960 and this past January they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.
Together they had 8 children: Leroy, Sharon, Donna, Mark, Paul, Marcia, Audrey and Christopher.
Sydney was a devoted husband and father always putting his family first and cherishing every moment spent with family. Sydney was known for his wit and sharpness at playing cards and dominos and being a pro at pools. He was a man of few words and his love for his family was without bounds. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
