Obituary of Hansaben Patel

Hansaben Patel, 68, of Toronto Ontario, passed away on August 19th, 2023.

Hansaben, affectionately known to friends and family as Hansa, was born on January 9, 1955, to Ramjibhai Ranchodbhai Patel and Nandiben Ramjibhai Patel in Jalalpore, Gujarat, India.

In 1960, at the age of 5, her parents, her 3 brothers, 1 sister and her moved to England where she spent the majority of her early life in Bolton, a suburb of Manchester. She was blessed to have another 2 brothers, whom she helped raise.

Shortly after, she married (Manharlal Patel) in 1975, she moved to Canada in 1976, had 2 children, Urvesh, in 1977, Krishan, in 1981, and worked with the Toronto District School Board from 1990 until September 2020. By working with the board, she was able to spend summers with her boys.

She was loved by family and friends. She had a passion for knowledge and becoming a better version of herself. She acquired her degree from Ryerson University in 2007. She enjoyed travelling and went to India, Italy, Hawaii, and Florida to name a few places. In her later years, she loved interacting with her grandchildren, preparing home cooked meals, painting, colouring, and reading activities for them.

Hansa is survived by: Urvesh (elder son), Dhaval (daughter-in-law), Krishan (younger son), and her 4 grandchildren Aarav, Aariya, Samay & Chhaya.

Services will be held at Lotus Funeral Home on August 24, 2023 at 11am - 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Habitat for Humanity or the Canadian Wildlife Federation, two charitable organizations Hansa strongly supported.
