Obituary of Kamal Narayan Pradhan

Please share a memory of Kamal to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Smt.Kamal Narayan Pradhan, passed into the light as she departed for her Heavenly abode very peacefully, early in the morning of 11th January (EST). She is survived by her children, Pandurang, Hemant, Mukund, her grandchildren Simran, Shefali, Suyog, Shibani, and Surabhi, her daughters in law, Aruna, Leena and Meenal, and her grand daughters in law Tania and Shivani.

Aai/Aaji/Dadi, as she was often called, lived a full life of 92 long and fulfilling summers and we accept her passing on from this world with a heavy heart and gratitude for her guiding presence in our lives. She was born on 29 August1931, at Satara, Maharashtra, India, to Raghunath Yashwant Pradhan, and Janaki Raghunath Pradhan. Growing up, she witnessed India’s independence and evolution. She studied in Modern High School and Ferguson College, Pune, India. She graduated with a double major in Political Science and History.

She married Narayan Bhikaji Pradhan, and they were blessed with three sons, Pandurang, Hemant, and Mukund. Together, they lived across many parts of India including Mumbai which became their permanent place of residence. After her husband’s passing away, in 2003, she joined her son’s family and lived in Sharjah, UAE, for ten years. She made many friends and touched the lives of all those around her. She was firmly rooted in Indian values, traditions and culture. She celebrated all Hindu festivals with great enthusiasm wherever she went. From 2013 onwards she was living in Mississauga, Canada with her sons and their families. She loved visiting Niagara Falls, and walking in the snow. Throughout her life she was able to explore different parts of the world, an enthusiasm she has passed down to her next generations, along with her beliefs and traditions.

During this period of mourning the family was comforted and sustained by their knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which Aai was so widely held in. We are thankful to the Almighty to have granted her a very calm and peaceful departure at home in Canada with her sons, daughters in law and grandchildren.

The funeral was held between 8am and 9 am on 12th January 2024 at the Lotus Funeral and Cremation Centre Inc. Toronto, Canada

Seeking your prayers for her smooth and peaceful transition to her Heavenly abode. Om Shanti.
