We first me Dilip sir in 2002 at BBC Apartments in Chennai. An epitome of gentleness yet stubborn in his way, he captured a precious and unforgettable place in all our minds and hearts. From introducing chocolates to my son Kevin to his knowledge laden guidance in times of distress with stories from his past, Dilip sir helped us through many a time of adversity and struggle. Thank you for the memories that we shall cherish for a lifetime, sir. It has been our privilege to have known you and to have had your presence in our lives. May your soul rest in paradise and we pray that God helps Geetha akka and Ammu find solace and peace through such a difficult phase in all our lives.
With heavy hearts,
Johnson, Stella and Kevin.

Dearest Aunty and Priya, I have no words, uncle is a personal loss to me, I have so many wonderful memories with him and your family. I have always known him as Appa’s best friend, all my life. I wish I had talked to him last week when he spoke to appa and amma, I hesitated since he mentioned he is in the hospital, which I regret now. Memories of uncle at our Gummidipundi home are fresh in mind. He used to post REC pictures on my Facebook and respond to my posts on appa and amma with memories and lots of love & joy he shared those days with appa. Their REC pictures are some of my favorites, I guess they were totally different personalities. Appa has referred to uncle always as his genius friend. The times with REC friends of Appa’s, especially Dilip uncle are most cherished by appa and I see the direct impact of uncles loss on him.
Sending lot of prayers your way for strength and hoping uncle attains Sharanagathi. Will miss you uncle!

Dear Geetha and Priya,
I am reminded of a very special message I got when my father passed away a couple of decades ago. "Dear Nalini, you have lost the best of fathers and I the best of friends" Similarly you have just lost a lifetime companion and we, the family, a favourite cousin. He was well liked by one and all despite the fact that he lived miles away from all of us. His departure has certainly left a void that can never be filled but I take this opportunity to 'celebrate' the incredible person he was. Rest in peace dear Tootsie!

My brother Dilip was a kind, caring and compassionate man. He always identified my needs and the needs of others and came forward to help. I have so many memories of him which are too dear to me that will always remain within me. He was the one who taught me how to hold a spanner to fix my bicycle as a kid. He bought me many books including philosophical books from eminent authors. When I finished school, he wrote me a heartfelt letter guiding me as I entered the next phase of my life. He was an academically gifted and intelligent man who aced all his classes, all without purchasing a single university book and studying at the library. He was always available for his friends. You have left us and gone too soon to join our parents. I miss you very much.

Our family prayers for Dilip's departed soul.Apart from being part of our family,he was a class genius in academic and universal knowledge.Few days before he departed, while in the hospital, the subject we were discussing was Bhagawat Geetha and the greatness of Gayathri Mantra.Though Great and Divine,I am rather surprised,as to 'why' this subject as our last talk.I presume, there's a hidden divine message. We,as a family, share our emotional feelings and thoughts with Dilip's family.Neelakantan,Geetha,Ashok,Vaishali,Shankar,Chitra and grand children.

Dilip veliachan was my uncle. My father’s elder brother. Even though we have not met face to face many times because he was not based in India, most of our contact was via messages, and he used to regularly message me with some news or the other or wishing me on occasion of festivals or my birthday.
Whenever we had met in person and conversations via phone, he was always soft spoken and kind, enquiring and advising about my studies career and things. Through my relatives, I have known him to be highly intelligent, successful and family person.
News of his death came as a shock for me. I will miss him. My hearful condolences to chechi and velliamma, who might be going through the toughest phase of their lives.

Dilip was very close to me during our engineering college days. One of the most intelligent students in our class although we hardly saw him studying he was our class topper in mechanical engineering. Dilip,Madhu and myself were also staying together in Vikhroli,Mumbai after completing engineering and we were working in Mumbai Dilip was working for Baba Atomic Research Centre. Last we met was when he came to Hyderabad to get his degree attested when he was working in middle east. We had lunch together and had a good time talking about our college days. Rest in peace my dear friend.

I first met Dilip uncle when I was in school. I still remember the image of him coming to pick up Aparna on his scooter. Years later, I was happy to really get to know him, especially when he made his trips to India where I had opportunities to truly converse with him.
Dilip uncle was the perfect example of a traveller's spirit, whenever we spoke about an Indian state or some part of the world, he would immediately have a story about their dressing customs, cooking customs or language customs. He drew from his encyclopaedic knowledge to always give a wider perspective on matters.
He spoke multiple languages and made countless road trips and hitchhikes throughout India. Aparna would often show me photos of him from around India and the world, enjoying different cultures.
To me, he was kind, soft spoken and jovial. They say the traveller's soul can never be caged for long. His presence will be missed but never forgotten.
On behalf of my family, Mr. Niruthan, Mrs. Kokila and my brother Nilanthan, we would like to express our deepest condolences to Geetha aunty, my dear Aparna and all his loved ones.
He was someone that I was happy to call 'Family', and he will always be with us in spirit. Rest in Peace uncle, the traveller's soul never dies.
