Obituary of Dhanpatti Chattar

Dhanpatti Chattar, also known as ‘Shop Reena’ (60 Village) passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Thursday May 2 nd
2024 at Brampton Civic Hospital.
Reena was born on March 4, 1940 in 59 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, Guyana.
She was loved everywhere she went and loved all of her family with passion. She was an anchor, who was kind,
generous and well respected as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was hardworking and dedicated, starting her own business in Guyana from a young age and carrying on her business
knowledge to Canada, worked as a seamstress, establishing a successful life.
Reena worshipped the Creator and loved learning the Bible.
Her siblings Gangaram, Finey, Rabut, Leen, Lilgal, Dat and Baboo passed away several years ago. Rena was survived by
her husband Girdharry Chattar, her brothers Beta and Golo, her sister Apple, her sons Rajin Namechand (married to
Becky, children: Janita, Salina, Nassira) and Dave Nimchand (married to Ormella; children: Mellanie, Natalie) and her
daughters Estalyn Permaul (married to Andrew, children: Priya and Neal), Veena Palmer (child: Aaron) and her great-
grandchildren Elliott, Jiah, Xola, Myles and Ollie.
Reena is very loved and will be dearly missed.
