Obituary of Balram Santokhi

BALRAM “Balo” SANTOKHI
July 19, 1960 – August 18, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Balram “Balo” Santokhi, age 64, who left us on
Sunday, August 18, 2024. Born in East Canjie Berbice, Guyana, Balram was the beloved son of
Santokhi and Ratannjelly Santokhi. He was the fourth of ten children, growing up with a deep
sense of family and community.

In 1980, Balram met his future wife, Gaitree, and together they welcomed their first child,
Moneram. The family moved to Canada in 1985, where Balram continued to build a life filled
with love and achievement. Over the years, he and Gaitree were blessed with three more
children: Trevor, Tara (Cindy), and Ravi. Balram’s family grew further with the addition of eight
cherished grandchildren.

Balram worked as a fiberglass laminator and was known for his skill in building, his passion for
fishing, and his devotion to spending quality time with his loved ones. He was a pillar of support
and always just a phone call away for many. Balram’s kindness and generosity touched the lives
of countless friends and family members, and he will be dearly missed.

A “Visitation & Funeral Service” will be held at Lotus Funeral and Cremation Center, 121 City
View Dr, Toronto, ON M9W 5A8, on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and
Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Flowers may be sent to the Lotus
Funeral and Cremation Center, addressed to the Santokhi Family.

Balram’s legacy of love and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
