To the Family and memory of Ms. Gandhi,
You were my teacher just about 20 years ago at Lawrence Heights, thank you for always believing in me and reassuring me that I had an abundance of amount of potential to succeed. I'm glad to say you were always right about that!
Ms. Gandhi at the end of the school year wrote every student in our class a personalized handwritten letter. I still have that letter, it's letter about hope, positivity and always smiling. Thank you Ms. Gandhi for everything.

Condolences to the whole family.
I am shocked to discover this sad news...we were classmates in our final year at Vanier college in Montreal. We had so much fun in a not so fun class (shouldn't be writing that, given that we both chose to be teachers). Her laughter was contagious. I remember that we laughed, had many discussions about our future, and we laughed some more. Rest in Peace my friend.

Anita was such a happy and kind person to teach alongside with at Valleyfield Junior School. She loved to talk (often joking about that) and she loved to laugh. She was quick to share stories about her family that she loved so much. I remember her often telling me about her special Friday dates with her sons after school, she just loved those times so much. Anita had such a positive outlook on life and was such a sweet woman. I am praying for Jason and the boys, and her immediate family, that God will give you all comfort during this very sad time.

I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of an exceptional woman, Anita. She was passionate about her teaching, totally dedicated to the young students in her charge, and always kind, energetic, humorous, and smiling as a colleague (at Dixon Grove). Her beautiful spirit will remain to live deep within all those whose lives she touched. May Gad give her Eternal Rest, and her bereaved family the strength to bear this great pain. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and may all our prayers help comfort you, Jason, Nikhil, Samran, Anita’s parents, sister and the extended family. Rest In Peace, Anita.

I have many wonderful memories of Anita from our time working together at Dixon Grove and we continued to be in touch after I retired. She was a pleasure to work with, always seeking out challenges and providing an engaging learning environment for her students. When I would spend time in her classroom, I always learned something new. I remember Anita would dress up as a medical doctor for our school Halloween parade, wearing a white lab coat and a stethoscope around her neck. She said that was the closest she came to choosing medicine over teaching. One year, the Friday before March Break, we were talking about our respective travel plans for the holidays. Anita shared that Jason had realized the night before that his passport was expired. My boyfriend had also noticed the previous evening, that his passport was expired. We were shocked at the coincidence and laughed about whether either of them would be able to get new passports in time. Anita enjoyed being active and she and I would meet at Etienne Brule to take the dog for a walk up the Humber River trail. My condolences to Anita's family. I will miss her.

Magwood Court will not be the same without her.
Her thoughtful, kind nature was truly remarkable. Whenever she saw us outside, she would be sure to run over with the a treat she had just whipped up, or a piece of cake from a party. Her love for her boys and devotion to her family, her vulnerable, open disposition...all made her a real gift to our little neighbourhood community.

Anita was an amazing teacher who inspired me in many ways. One of my favourite memories of her was when I was dealing with a student who was being bullied she taught me the "Gandhi" way of dealing with those bullies. It worked! Her passion for teaching and love of students was immense. She will always be remembered at our school for her energy and smile. She will be deeply missed.

And of course she was a star at inspiring/encouraging all those around her……like getting me up that darn St. Mark’s hill over and over (felt like a mountain at 6am).
