Obituary of Shewbaran Jairam

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our father Shewbaran, on December 4th, 2023, with his children by his side.

He will be remembered by his children Ian (Shoko), Dyan (Charmaine) and Shelly (Steve), granddaughters Sasha and Mia, siblings Harry Persaud (Kay) and Joe Surajbali (Rita), as well as his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was predeceased in death by his loving wife Elaine Jairam, his parents Jairam and Suhkia, as well as his brothers Charles Nowrang and Clifton Persaud.

Shewbaran was born on April 18, 1947 in CI, Guyana. He immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in December 1974, where he worked as a welder at Federal Pioneer up until his retirement. Afterwards, he moved to Mississauga, Ontario to be closer to his family and to be a first time grandpa. He enjoyed going fishing, watching western movies, and keeping fit. He was an avid reader and would make multiple trips to the library during his retirement. Shewbaran loved to engage in conversation about current events and share stories about his life with others. He could often be found listening to his extensive record collection or chatting on the phone with his many friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters Sasha and Mia.

To honor his wishes, a funeral service will be held at Lotus Funeral and Cremation Centre Inc. on Saturday, December 9th at 7am, where he will be laid to rest.
