Very sad to hear that Mukund is no more. Our deepest condolences to Anuja and family, as well as all Kulkarni's friends and family.
Mukund was a kind, simple, and down to earth person. He was always friendly, kind and helpful to students coming from India. He touched our hearts deeply from day one of our student life in Kingston.
We pray god to give strength to the the family to bear this loss.
Om Shanti.

Our most heartfelt condolences to everyone in Mukund Kulkarni's family. Mukund's contributions to the Indian community in Kingston, Ontario were enormous. His dedication and commitment to social, cultural and religious life provided a strong foundation to the early days of new Indian immigrants. He was always a strong supporter of India Canada Association, Mandir and Multicultural Folk Lore celebrations.

My heart is filled with emotion as I write this tribute to a person who was more than a father figure to me. Mukund Kulkarni, Mukund Ji as we referred to him, was a selfless man who inspired, cheered, and guided innumerable lives!
I met Mukund Ji when I arrived in Kingston, Canada, for my graduate studies at Queen's University in 1985! Below is a picture of the day I met him. I am fourth from the left on the top row, and Pradeep is first on the top. Picture courtesy: Srinivasan Rajagopal. This was at a prayer meeting in Kingston. They both were so welcoming. The first sight melted all my homesickness away for someone who had never left home and had to travel to a foreign country.
From that day onwards, the Kulkarni family became my new adopted home.
Throughout my six-year stay in Kingston, Kulkarni's residence became my adopted home! I feel bad that I did not visit him and Nandini Ji more often since I moved away to Texas. When I visited Toronto, I made it a priority to see them.
I feel so blessed that Pradeep and I got to see him and spend a couple of hours with him last December -picture below: I am second from the left on the top row, and Pradeep is third on the top. I don't know if he recognized us, but his smile was the same one I remember from our first meeting! Pradeep sang bhajans, to which Mukund Ji also sang. It was one of my most precious memories for a long time.
Mukund Ji will continue to guide our lives.
Thank you, Mukund Ji, for all you have done for us! You and Nandini Ji will be in our hearts forever!
Jayanth, your “adopted” son!

We came to know Mukund Kulkarni and family in 1979 when Kamala joined a position at the Queens university library. He was of great help in buying our first house in the same year and later when we were building a house in 1984 he provided advice on engineering details as well inspection during construction. Within the Indian
community,he was a selfless and dedicated leader, taking initiative to teach bhajans for children (bal Vikas), organised monthly Mandir, and as voted president of India Canada Association organised many events like folklore ,Diwali,Heritage day etc. for many years. We were indeed also associate/participant in his (family) activities and contributions and observed first hand his enthusiasm, dedication and devotion for such a conduct. Spiritually, he was well sought out for Hindu religious counselling and services. Now he is no more, we remember and celebrate
his glorious legacy. Our condolences to Anuja and other surviving family.
